As we all know, Etsy has turned into a very powerful platform for all sorts of sellers and buyers from every part of the world. It is this wonderful place, where you can probably find anything you can imagine. Artists express themselves with their products, which are a feast for the eyes and I should admit I absolutely LOVE to spend at least a few minutes per day, admiring someone’s work.
Today I have decided to introduce you to a very special shop for me, which has been recently opened for customers from all over the world. It’s called Twinkle Boutique and there you can find different kinds of decorations for your home, body and soul 🙂 What you will also find, is a wonderful personality that will make sure you remain perfectly satisfied with your purchase. I’m honored to know Petya on a personal level outside of Etsy and I can absolutely guarantee that.
Among other things, Petya is an actress and a choreographer at Theatre-Laboratory Alma Alter and I really have no idea how she manages her time, but the fact is – she does and she will always find more for you.
On the occasion of starting my blog, Petya has decided to make a very generous offer and place a 40% discount on all items with price above $20 for all of the readers of Creation is Motivation in the next month (until October 21st). What’s more, she will even provide free shipping if you comment on the post and share it on any of the social media. With all those holidays approaching, I won’t pass on those offers for the world!!
Below is an interview with her, revealing how she decided to open her shop and whatever more she decided to share with us.
Q: What inspired you to create Twinkle Boutique?
Hi Zori! There are two things that inspired me to create Twinkle Boutique. Of course the first one was nature and all its beautiful flowers. Those are the images I try to recreate and turn into jewelry and accessories. And I should tell you – it’s a great challenge – to try and capture something that can’t truly be captured. In the beginning, I started with silk jewelry and oya crochet technique. That’s the technique of the Turkish Anatolian women who have lived a very alienated life and haven’t had the opportunity to interact with others. So they created this silk jewelry with beads and depending on their pattern and colors, they’ve sent them as a message to the others. The oya crochet technique attracted me with its tenderness – the jewelry seem like being in constant motion and look alive as an accessory to the clothes we’re wearing. The other thing that inspired me was a friend of mine. Before I started selling my accessories, I kept giving them away as gifts. I created them for myself and when someone liked it I just took it off and gave it to him. In one such situation, my friend told me “I want to buy it”, on which I jokingly replied “But you can’t, there’s no shop”. Then she told me that it’s time I make one on Etsy.
Q: How much money did you have to initially invest in your shop?
Etsy is a platform with its own financial policy and there’s an initial fee that every seller pays to open his shop. Of course, as an artist I’m so far from numbers and accounting that I’ve completely forgotten how much that was, but it’s not much at allJ
Q: What would you say to everyone who is thinking about opening an Etsy shop?
Everyone who wishes to open a shop in Etsy should be prepared to land into a place full of an endless number of creative ideas. It’s like a basin full of creativity, fantasy and love towards art. The people on Etsy are linked as a social group in which everyone is ready to help the others. They aren’t just sellers. Etsy is a place where you can share your knowledge and learn a lot more yourself. It is the perfect place to start turning your hobby into a profession. Etsy aims at preserving everything handmade in this century of technology we live in. Save the handmade.
Q: What is the secret to creating at so many different levels?
Oh, there’s no secret! You either are an artist or not. The different levels are only a different means of expression which you choose to express yourself at that very moment. I believe that in our life we meet people who are artists even though their professions aren’t directly linked to art. For example, if one person is a diplomat, that doesn’t mean he can’t be an artist in his life. Because for me an artist is someone who feels the need for inner expression.
Q: How do you see your shop in 10 years?
In 10 years I see my shop as a small boutique in the center of Sofia.
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
I would like to add, as a message to everyone, to try and find for themselves one different world in which our busy everyday life doesn’t turn us into machines; to try and find the small things that make our day; and to gift themselves the luxury of colors and emotions. Feel free to create, to express yourself and to BE yourself, because… creation is motivation.
Thank you very much for your time!
