This is a very easy baby puree recipe which can be used for both lunch and dinner meals. It is perfectly suitable for babies 8 months old or even younger, it really depends on when you start offering tomatoes. The salt in the recipe is absolutely optional! When I first started making homemade baby food, I cooked everything without salt, but after my baby boy turned one he started refusing his food so I sometimes add a tiny bit of salt to his meals to make them tastier. So, here it is:
- 1 tomato
- 3-4 carrots
- 1 large potato
- 1 teaspoon of butter
- Tiny bit of salt (optional)
Wash, peel and cut the vegetables into cubes and boil until soft. Mash everything together and add a very tiny bit of salt (again, this is optional) and 1 teaspoon of butter. Depending on your baby’s taste you can add a little bit of water to make the puree more liquid.
This amount is usually enough for one and a half meals, depending on your baby’s appetite. I offer one portion at lunchtime and store the rest in the fridge for dinner when I offer it together with some kind of soup or other light dish.
Hope your baby enjoys it!:)
What are you baby’s food preferences? Does it like purees or does it prefer finger food?
