It’s Day 4 of the Make Over Your Mornings course and we’re talking incentives today. Have you discovered how finding an incentive can launch your whole day for success? That’s right. The simple act of doing something you’re passionate about helps you to become much more productive and successful when faced with your daily tasks and responsibilities.
I currently have two very powerful incentives in my life that keep me going even on days when I feel more like giving up. One of them is reading and the other one is talking to a friend. As I’ve mentioned in some other posts, we recently moved to another country, so my family and friends remained hundreds of kilometers away. We use Skype to communicate and even though it doesn’t happen every day, it fuels me up with positive energy and determination to keep striving towards a life that motivates me every day. I think the power of exchanging energy and thoughts with people you love is what makes the trick.
Reading is my other powerful incentive. I start my day by reading a particular blog or two and I finish it by reading a book. I also try to squeeze in some reading whenever I have small pockets of time during the day.
Finding an incentive that works for you will make it easier to get up in the morning, to get through a tough day at work, or to calm down in the evening. It’s important to never forget that you matter. By that I mean that you should do something for yourself every day in order to feel fulfilled even if everything else fails.
Again this should be something simple that you enjoy doing on a regular bases (exercise, writing, taking a shower, enjoying a healthy meal, etc.) If you’re trying to make over your mornings, think about this incentive right after you hear the alarm. It will make it so much easier to get up for something you love.
Incentives are small treats we make for ourselves. Because even the most generous person needs a moment of little selfishness in which to fill up his tank.
